The main scientific goal of the university is to conduct research that contributes to expanding the boundaries of knowledge, developing science and technology, and solving urgent societal problems.
The university strives to create innovative solutions, train qualified specialists, and introduce the results of scientific activity into practice. An important task is also to teach students critical thinking and research skills so that they can later contribute to the scientific community and society as a whole.
The principal objective of the university’s development is the organic combination of educational and research activity and the training of specialists relevant to market relations on the basis of the latest achievements in information technologies and innovative economy.
The scientific activity of the university is aimed at studying theoretical, methodological, and applied problems of economic sectors under conditions of integration processes.
The main university research topic for 2016–2024 is "Problems of Development and Improvement of the Competitiveness of the Economic Sectors of Kyrgyzstan". In 2024, 119 teachers and staff members were involved in this work, including 17 Doctors of Science and 37 Candidates of Science, as well as doctoral students, postgraduate students, applicants, and master’s students.
In 2024, the teaching staff, postgraduate students, and master’s students of the university took part in more than 165 international, republican, and interuniversity conferences and seminars, as well as 200 round tables and webinars held in the Kyrgyz Republic and abroad.
Scientific reports delivered by university faculty at symposiums, conferences, seminars, and round tables resulted in 311 scientific articles published in various scientific editions and 15 articles in mass media.
Research Output in 2024
- More than 311 scientific articles were published, including 24 articles indexed in Web of Science and Scopus, authored by 15 employees of KEU.
- 15 articles were published in republican newspapers of the Kyrgyz Republic.
- 31 monographs, 11 textbooks, 13 teaching manuals, 57 educational-methodological complexes, and 15 methodological manuals were published.
- 10 Kyrgyzpatent certificates were obtained for research works.
- In 2024, the teaching staff gave interviews and took part in 20 media appearances, including national television.
Journal and Publication Activity
The university publishes the quarterly journal "Bulletin of KEU", which is included in the list of journals of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Kyrgyz Republic and is indexed in the Russian Science Citation Index. It is available in open access on the scientific portal elibrary.ru.
The publication activity of the journal improved during 2021–2024:
The two-year impact factor of the journal increased from 0.018 in 2021 to 0.054 by the end of 2024.
The five-year impact factor increased from 0.018 in 2021 to 0.051 in 2023.
The number of foreign co-authors, article citations, views, and downloads of KEU faculty publications continues to grow.

Postgraduate studies at KEU named after M. Ryskulbekov were opened on the basis of Order No. 6/D of the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture dated June 29, 2000.
