Higher professional education based on secondary specialized education is provided in 8 specialties. The Academic Council of the university determines the fundamentals of organizing and conducting the educational process, monitoring its results, and financing educational programs.
Coordination of educational and methodological work is carried out by the Educational and Methodological Council of the university. This permanent advisory body is aimed at improving the organization and coordination of educational and methodological work, expert review of teaching materials, and recommendations for improving the quality of educational activity at KEU.
The educational process at KEU is based on the humanistic and secular nature of education. The priority of universal human values is implemented in the joint academic, research, and public activity of students and teachers.
Instruction at the university is conducted in the state and official languages. Certain classes and disciplines are taught in foreign languages, and English-medium groups are opened.
All educational programs implemented at the university comply with the state educational standards of the Kyrgyz Republic and labor market requirements. Representatives of employers participate in the review of curricula and programs, graduate assessment, and accreditation of educational programs and the university.
An important component of the university’s educational activity is the organization of the educational process and educational-methodological work carried out by the Educational and Methodological Department. It provides regulatory and organizational support, develops methodological foundations for improving and modernizing the educational process, coordinates academic and educational-methodological work of structural units, and promotes the implementation of interactive and innovative teaching methods.
As a result of the targeted organization of the educational process and the selection of forms, methods, and means of instruction, students are provided with all the conditions necessary for mastering educational programs.
Higher professional education programs in the fields of "Economics" and "Management" have international accreditation, which confirms that these programs meet international quality requirements.
The academic calendar includes a summer semester that provides additional training and consultations for students to eliminate academic debts. For students who have not completed the curriculum during the academic year and summer semester, repeated study of disciplines is provided.
Students of KEU choose disciplines for study within the elective component provided by the state educational standard. For this purpose, the Educational and Methodological Department, together with department teachers, compiles a catalog of elective courses. This increases student motivation and supports the building of an individual learning trajectory.
The university is implementing a competency-based approach in the organization of student learning. This involves changes in the goals, forms, and methods of instruction, the ways students acquire professional knowledge and skills, their interaction with teachers, and learning outcomes. Under these conditions, the role of independent student work increases.
To organize students’ independent work and provide them with educational and methodological materials, university teachers develop new textbooks, teaching and methodological manuals, and educational-methodological complexes of disciplines, which are placed in the "E-Bilim" information system.
Today, result-oriented requirements for the qualifications and competencies of higher school teachers have significantly increased. In this regard, the academic department conducts extensive work to improve teacher qualifications through seminars, trainings, and courses aimed at developing pedagogical mastery, professional level, and information-communication abilities.
The implementation of the principle "teacher and student are partners" and academic integrity in the student environment contributes to compliance with the Student Honor Code and the Code of Professional Ethics of KEU teachers.
The educational activity of the university flexibly combines cooperation with international educational centers, associations, financial institutions, unions, and innovative educational projects. KEU is a member of many international educational organizations.
Thanks to this, the university introduces various educational innovations into its academic activity.
The university has implemented Bologna principles, including a multi-level system of education, credit-based learning technology, academic mobility, issuance of the European Diploma Supplement, quality management systems, and others. Purposeful work is currently being carried out to study PhD training experience in Kyrgyzstan and abroad and to transition to a three-level training model.
Internationalization of education is also one of the university’s priority areas. Every year, international cooperation in education develops further, student internships abroad increase, and academic mobility expands.
Since 2012, KEU graduates have been awarded the European Diploma Supplement, a higher professional education document aimed at facilitating the academic and professional recognition of obtained diplomas.
As a modern university, KEU pays special attention to informatization of educational activity, providing the educational process with technical equipment, methodology, and the practice of using modern information technologies oriented toward achieving learning goals.
This process improves education management mechanisms, creates communication networks, and enhances teaching methods and organizational forms of study. In this direction, the automated university management system "E-Bilim" has been created and operates successfully, increasing management efficiency. The university’s local network supports rapid information transfer and improves communication. The university educational portal contains a database of regulatory, informational, educational, and methodological materials in electronic format for students’ independent work.
